BIO

Derrty Ent/ Universal Records young lion Murphy Lee has undoubtedly solidified his position as one the Midwest “heavy hitters”.  As the youngest member of the multi platinum group the St. Lunatics, Murphy achieved national recognition.  He broke the mold from sidekick to front man with his debut album, Murphy’s Law achieving platinum status.  The album included ground breaking collaborations with artist and producers such as Puffy, Nelly, JD, and Jazzy Phae.  The “irresistible” sound created during this project fueled Murphy’s music to appear on more than one soundtrack.

“Shake Ya Tail Feather” single from the Bad Boys II soundtrack, jumpstarted Murphy’s Law, and “What the Hook Gone Be” produced by Jermaine Dupree gave Murphy solo debut a major foundation.  Murphy went on to achieving several awards for Murphy’s Law; most notable was a Grammy in 2004.

From School Boy to Young Executive, following the footsteps of success established by an industry icon and fellow group member Nelly.  “Borrowing” the blueprint and sharing the same ambition as Nelly, Murphy has capitalized on his every opportunity.  Not just rapping, Murphy business ventures now include a restaurant, clothing store and his own record label.  Staying loyal to the Derrty/ Universal brand, Murphy is geared up to make a major play on the industry.  He will use this record as a Power Move to sustain and enhance his position as a Derrty Artist, establish him as a label CEO and to help preserve his entrepreneur interest.

Murphy Lee
Murphy is now known as a Grown Ass Man, Young Executive, actor, director, and entrepreneur.  This is a most accurate description of a complex individual.  To his new label Murphy is not only the Boss, he is the musical leader and guiding force behind the young but talented roster.  Through his Restaurant and clothing business he has become a well respected business owner and example for young black entrepreneurs.  All these aspects of his personality combined with his responsibilities and experiences are the ingredients for his sophomore release “You See Me”.  Murphy’s Law was filled with joyous celebrations and the ideas of a “Skool Boy”, sometimes intertwining brief and subliminal uplifting messages.    “You See Me” is the result of two years of hard work.  “I sat back and watched the Industry, listened to my fans and put together a “   “of want they wanted and what the industry needed”, Murphy.  The subjects of this album touch every aspect of life whether sacred or secular.  With relevant topics, songs are embedded with game, and well thought out verses inspire and influences behavior.  “Why be economically and socially suppressed, why would you let him hit you, why would you sign a deal like that?” Murphy, “My music says, it’s fly to change yo bad habits and F’up ways”.  Murphy has grown as a lyricist and this is music with a meaning, hitting on the streets, the record industry, government and relationships.  To successfully create this type of project Murphy worked with a diverse group of artist and producers.

There is one radiating message from all of this and that is – HE HAS GOT WHAT YOU NEED, SO LISTEN TO THE MUSIC.
